Ssamjang soy paste is a traditional Korean bean paste supplemented with garlic and chilli powder. The base for this paste is the Doenjang fermented bean paste, supplemented with Gochujang (Korean chilli paste) and other flavourings such as garlic. You use this paste mainly at Korean BBQ as a flavouring for meat or as a dip for meat or vegetables.
